The infinite complexities of creating.
It's both frustration and pleasure. Trying to get this project on the path to something I feel is decent has been challenging. Luckily I'm always at it even if I can't find a way to focus on just one thing at a time, or rather one world or game project-building situation at a time! But that just means I can create in whatever capacity I think. I wanted to do a simple game but I keep wanting to plan all these ideas and see little parts do what I imagined when I hit F5... or whatever the engine does to play the game.
Today, is the Monday... so we (my doggo, the voices in my head, and I) will move the tiny studio space around. Then I need to get some work done on the ship store and attachment system. There are infinite ways to do this but I think if I just sit and go with the ideas I have to get it done I'll have it made in no time. I just have to stick with an idea and not go into dream zone. I think it's the medication. Not quite sure how to separate from that zone and get into the productive create zone.
I took a little time to make some ideas for the VR game and the Factory game but then I seem to spend time trying to understand AI and Neural Networks and that takes it toll on the project to focus on. Then there's watching dumb shows, eating, sleeping. If I could eliminate sleep... if only...
I did get a procedural asteroid system. In Godot we have 2D polygon sprites which is just a set of 2D points connected with a texture, pretty much like a 3D mesh but on a flat plane. I thought it might be nice to use that for the roids and figure out how to make them fracture. That's a toughie! But I will probably just use the fracturing system that is in the community asset library. Procedural music will be nice but I'm still a bit on the fence on using the upcoming 4.3 system or tracker files. I really like tracker files but they take a bit more preparation to make and I don't have as much flexibility. I have to constantly fight with my practical programmer side and my impractical artist side. All while the whole person starves and can't afford the things needed to support any more projects!
That said if you feel like anything I'm doing is worth tossing a coin or sack of dosh in my direction, if you want to feed me so I can get back in shape, if you want to buy me a coffee, then there are several options. But most importantly, acknowledge and send me feedback. I need cheerleaders and a show of interest to help keep the project going and others.
